Why monitor the quality of natural waters?

Accurate monitoring of natural water is a guarantee of quality for its use,
whether for subsequent treatment or use as is.

Over and above qualitative monitoring via physical-chemical sensors,
it is also important to know the variations in terms of water table levels; stream flow
rates and if there is a climatic event.

The parameters most closely monitored in natural environments are dissolved oxygen, turbidity, pH, conductivity and temperature, which are indicators of the ecological status of a watercourse or groundwater body. In the event of heavy rainfall or construction work in the vicinity, monitoring turbidity and suspended solids becomes critical in order to anticipate the impacts on water resources.
